Tyler Man Arrested Again for Secretly Tracking Ex-Girlfriend's Car, Police Say

Colton Coby Warner

Tyler police have arrested 30-year-old Colton Coby Warner after investigators say he secretly placed a tracking device on his ex-girlfriend’s car, marking the second time he’s been accused of similar behavior. The arrest occurred on October 27th.

According to arrest records, Warner’s ex-girlfriend contacted police after noticing he kept appearing at random places she visited, including spots she rarely went. Officers searched her vehicle and discovered a hidden GPS tracking device tucked inside the rear bumper, along with extra tracking equipment. The woman told police she never gave permission for anyone to install it.

Investigators say Warner admitted to placing the device, reportedly telling officers he did it because he’s “an insecure person.” Police noted that after the woman filed her report, Warner continued showing up around her, including at the gym and local walking trails.

Court records show Warner has a history of similar conduct. In 2023, he pled guilty to tracking another ex-girlfriend’s vehicle and was sentenced to probation, which had ended only a few months before this new incident.

Warner was taken into custody and booked into the Smith County Jail. The case remains under investigation.
