Around 1:53 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, Sherman Police officers responded to the intersection of West McGee Street and North Travis Street for reports of a woman who had been shot. When officers arrived, they found an adult female suffering from a single gunshot wound to her back.
Investigators determined the victim and suspect had attended a party earlier in the evening. Afterward, the victim gave the suspect, identified as Tradavian Taylor, and another passenger a ride. When Taylor got out of the vehicle, he allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired one round into the driver’s seat, hitting the victim.
Police believe the shooting occurred after the victim declined Taylor’s request to accompany him back to his residence. The victim was able to speak with officers before being transported to a local hospital, where she is expected to recover. The other passenger in the vehicle was not injured.
Detectives located Taylor a short time later in the 1400 block of North Highland. Search warrants were executed at the location, leading to the recovery of additional evidence connecting him to the shooting.
Taylor was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The investigation remains ongoing.
