At 10:22 a.m. on Friday, October 24th, the Nacogdoches Combined 911 Center received multiple calls reporting gunfire in the 1000 block of Hackberry Street. Callers reported seeing one individual running from the scene and another person lying in the street near a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they found one person lying in the roadway suffering from gunshot wounds and two others inside a nearby vehicle, also injured by gunfire. One of the victims inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims were transported to local hospitals but were later pronounced deceased.
A fourth individual, believed to have fled the scene on foot, remains at large. Detectives are actively following leads to locate this person.
Two of the deceased victims have been identified as 17-year-old Dequavious LeCharles Brooks and 18-year-old Edward Alejandro Rivera, both of Nacogdoches. The identity of the third victim has not yet been confirmed.
Investigators believe this was a targeted and isolated incident. The Nacogdoches Police Department has stated there is no ongoing threat to the neighborhood or the general public as the investigation continues.
