Panola County Deputies Locate Victim in Kidnapping Incident

Carthage, TX - On Friday, October 24, 2025, at approximately 5:03 a.m., Panola County Dispatch received a 911 call from a woman who was heard yelling for help before the call disconnected. When dispatchers attempted to call the number back, a male answered. The original caller could still be heard in the background calling for help. The male, later identified as the suspect, told dispatchers he was taking the victim to Louisiana and would “drop her off.”

At 6:33 a.m., Panola County Dispatch was notified of a one-vehicle crash on County Road 3031 off the Loop. Deputies, investigators, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper, and UT Health EMS responded to the scene and discovered the driver—the sole occupant—was the same suspect from the earlier 911 call.

The suspect told deputies he had dropped the victim off outside a business in Shreveport, Louisiana. Around 10:00 a.m., the victim was located at a residence in Shreveport and is now receiving medical treatment. Investigators have since determined that the initial disturbance took place at an apartment complex within the City of Carthage.

The suspect is currently hospitalized with injuries sustained in the crash. No names are being released at this time as the investigation remains active.

The Panola County Sheriff’s Office extends its gratitude to the Panola County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol and Texas Rangers, and all other assisting agencies for their efforts in bringing this case to a safe resolution.
