KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas – A 17-year-old male is facing multiple felony drug charges after being arrested twice this year by Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office deputies — most recently for possessing a THC vape pen on school property.
The first arrest occurred on Friday, January 24, 2025, at approximately 10:56 p.m., when a Kaufman County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a gray BMW traveling on U.S. 175 at Fair Road for an obstructed license plate. Upon contacting the driver, deputies detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
A subsequent search led to the discovery and seizure of ten THC vape pens and four plastic baggies containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine. The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with:
-
Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2 (more than 4 grams but less than 400 grams)
-
Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 (more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams)
He was booked into the Kaufman County Justice Center and later released on bond.
On Thursday, October 9, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the same individual was again stopped by deputies while driving a white Chevrolet truck on State Highway 274 at U.S. 175 for multiple violations, including failure to signal, a defective brake light, and a registration issue.
The driver pulled into the Kemp High School parking lot during the stop. Deputies observed an E-Vape device in his lap and discovered it contained 82.25% THC. The incident occurred within a designated Drug-Free Zone.
The suspect was transported to the Kaufman County Justice Center and charged with:
-
Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2 (less than 1 gram)
-
Possession, Purchase, Consumption, or Receipt of Cigarettes or Tobacco Products by a Minor
He was later released on bond.
“Our deputies remain vigilant in protecting the safety of our communities and schools,” said Sheriff Bryan Beavers. “We take the presence of illegal substances, especially in Drug-Free Zones, very seriously.”
