TEXARKANA, TX - Two people were arrested early Monday morning after police responding to an alarm call at Tractor Supply on N. Stateline Avenue uncovered drugs, stolen property, and a not-so-believable story.
Around 1:00 a.m. on October 20, Officer Ty Ford arrived to find 30-year-old Winter Duncan sitting in a parked car out front. Moments later, her boyfriend, Jeffrey Vasold, walked out from behind the building. Both initially gave the officer fake names but were quickly identified and taken into custody.
When searched, Vasold was found carrying Diazepam pills and a baggie of meth, while officers discovered loaded syringes and drug paraphernalia inside the car. The couple’s explanations for being there didn’t add up — Vasold even claimed he thought the store was open and was “there to shop.”
A follow-up search by Sgt. Aaron Wafford revealed a brand-new $750 wood splitter hidden behind a dumpster behind the store. Tractor Supply confirmed it had been stolen, and muddy shoe prints in the area matched Vasold’s shoes.
Both suspects were booked into the Bi-State Jail:
-
Jeffrey Vasold: Theft of Property, Failure to Identify, and Possession of a Controlled Substance — bond set at $14,000.
-
Winter Duncan: Failure to Identify and Possession of a Controlled Substance — bond set at $5,000.
Police say the case is still under investigation but added that thanks to a quick response, the stolen property was recovered before it could be taken off-site.
