High-Speed Chase Through Grayson County Ends in Arrest of Wanted Felon in Grayson County

SOUTHMAYD, Texas – A high-speed pursuit through Grayson County early Tuesday morning ended in the arrest of a wanted felon after he fled from a Southmayd police officer during a traffic stop.

Around 1:28 a.m. on October 21, 2025, Officer Barrett with the Southmayd Police Department was conducting traffic enforcement on State Highway 56 when he observed a vehicle speeding in the 16000 block of the highway. After initiating a traffic stop, the driver, identified as Terrance Alex Blake Jr. of Whitesboro, was found to have three active arrest warrants.

When instructed to exit the vehicle, Blake refused and fled the scene, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit exceeding 100 mph. The chase ended near Sunset Boulevard in Sherman when the suspect’s vehicle crashed and became disabled. Blake then fled on foot but was apprehended by Officer Barrett after a short foot pursuit through a nearby parking lot.

A female passenger in the suspect’s vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

During the investigation, Lieutenant Aguirre recovered a loaded firearm that had been thrown from the vehicle during the initial stop. The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and Sherman Police Department assisted with the pursuit and arrest.

Blake was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation before being booked into the Grayson County Jail on the following charges:

  • Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle Causing Serious Bodily Injury

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

  • Tampering With or Fabricating Physical Evidence

  • Resisting Arrest
