Texas Rangers Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting in Gladewater That Left Suspect Dead

GLADEWATER, Texas – The Texas Rangers are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred late Monday night, October 6, 2025, involving deputies from the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Gladewater Police Department.

According to authorities, the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. near the 1100 block of East Broadway in Gladewater, where law enforcement officers were attempting to detain Amanda Allen, 43, who was wanted in connection with an ongoing narcotics trafficking investigation.

Deputies and officers approached Allen at a local restaurant after receiving intelligence linking her to drug distribution activity in the area. When they attempted to stop her, Allen allegedly tried to flee and rammed her vehicle into a Gregg County patrol car, endangering the officers on scene.

In response, a Gregg County Sheriff’s Deputy discharged his firearm to protect fellow officers. Deputies and officers immediately administered life-saving measures at the scene before Allen was transported to a local hospital. She later died from her injuries.

No deputies or police officers were seriously hurt during the incident.

Per standard procedure, the involved deputy has been placed on administrative leave while the Texas Rangers lead the independent investigation into the shooting.

The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office stated that it is fully cooperating with the Texas Rangers’ inquiry to ensure transparency and accountability as the investigation continues.
