SHERMAN, Texas — On Sunday, September 21, 2025, Sherman Police arrested 29-year-old Kendrick McGee Jr., a convicted felon, following a reported vehicle theft in the 2900-block of North Highway 75.
Officers were flagged down around 9:33 a.m. and quickly reviewed surveillance footage confirming the theft. A suspect description led police to a nearby hotel, where McGee fled into a wooded area before being apprehended.
During the investigation, officers found three small children left unsupervised in the hotel room. The children were safely released to family members. Officers also recovered several items stolen from the initial theft, as well as two firearms reported stolen from separate agencies.
McGee faces 16 charges, including theft, evading arrest, tampering with evidence, abandoning/endangering children, and unlawful possession of firearms by a felon. He also had six outstanding warrants related to burglary, theft, and firearm offenses. He was transported to the Grayson County Jail.
Sherman Police praised the teamwork and swift action of officers, which led to the recovery of stolen property and ensured the safety of the children.
