PARIS, TX – Paris police arrested two men Monday, September 8, after a traffic stop linked to a recent hit-and-run led to the discovery of drugs and outstanding warrants.
Officers spotted a vehicle on U.S. 82 East believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident on August 28. They followed it into the city and initiated a stop in the 3800 block of NE Loop 286 after observing the driver commit multiple traffic violations.
The driver was identified as 41-year-old Gary Wayne Reed, and a backseat passenger initially identified himself as “Glen Jackson.” During the stop, officers located marijuana and methamphetamine in the vehicle and on clothing Reed had been wearing.
Further investigation revealed the passenger’s real identity as 59-year-old Doyle Dickerson, who had outstanding Red River County warrants.
Reed was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana. Dickerson was charged with Failure to ID as a Fugitive from Justice, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and the outstanding warrants for Burglary of a Habitation and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Both men were booked without incident, and the vehicle was released to another passenger.
