Two Arrested, Drugs and Firearm Seized Following Nacogdoches Pursuit

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas—A vehicle pursuit on US Highway 59 South on August 29 resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics and a firearm.

During the traffic stop initiated by the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Department and TX DPS Troopers, Shydaja Williams, 26, and Roy Casey Jr., 30, both of Nacogdoches, were found to be in the vehicle. Williams initially failed to stop, leading to a pursuit. During the chase, Casey began discarding what is believed to be ounces of powder cocaine and multiple pounds of methamphetamine onto the roadway.

Williams eventually stopped the vehicle, and both subjects were taken into custody with the assistance of the Nacogdoches Police Department.

A search of the vehicle and the surrounding roadway revealed numerous narcotics and a firearm. The firearm was located within the passenger compartment, easily accessible to Casey, who is a convicted felon. Casey also had active warrants through the Nacogdoches Police Department stemming from a previous evasion incident.

Casey faces charges including Felony-1 Delivery of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Misdemeanor-A Possession of a Controlled Substance (prescription medication), Felony-3 Tampering/Fabricate Physical Evidence, Felony-3 Felon in Possession of a Firearm, State Jail Felony Possession of Marijuana (warrant), and Felony-3 Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle (warrant).

Williams was charged with Felony-3 Tampering/Fabricate Physical Evidence and Felony-3 Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle.

The incident stemmed from felony warrants for Casey's arrest issued by the Nacogdoches Police Department and Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Department. Law enforcement spent several hours collecting evidence from the roadway.
