On Sunday, September 7, 2025, the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence call in the 2800 block of State Highway 56 near Dodd City.
When deputies arrived, the suspect, 28-year-old Preston Lawson, fled into the woods behind his residence.
Multiple agencies joined the search, including Bonham Police Department, Delta County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, Department of Public Safety ground and air units, and Honey Grove Police Department. Lawson was ultimately located and arrested without incident.
He is currently being held on the following charges:

Felony assault charges out of Collin County

Assault Family Violence (Fannin County)

Evading Arrest (Fannin County)
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that at no point were Fannin County residents in danger during the incident.
