On September 2, 2025, at approximately 7:46 p.m., a Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a 911 call from 3642 FM 777. Dispatchers reported hearing a female screaming, “Get off me,” before losing contact and being unable to reconnect with the caller.
When the deputy arrived, he was met outside by 23-year-old Meriam Isabella Young of Jasper, who stated that her brother, Zane Quentin Young, 20, had hit her and that she wished to pursue charges. The deputy observed a fresh bruise and swelling to Meriam’s eye.
During Zane’s arrest, the deputy also noted an obvious contusion on Zane’s face. Zane told deputies that Meriam had struck him as well.
Given the visible injuries, statements from both parties, and prior knowledge of violent altercations between the siblings and their parents, the deputy determined the violence would likely continue. Both Meriam and Zane Young were arrested and booked into the Jasper County Jail on Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family/Household Member (Class A Misdemeanor).
