POLK COUNTY, TX – On September 1, 2025, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from a female reporting that she had been assaulted. Deputies, with assistance from the Livingston Police Department, arrived at the scene and confirmed the victim had visible injuries consistent with an assault.
During the investigation, deputies identified the suspect and proceeded to his residence in the Putnam’s Landing subdivision. Upon arrival, the suspect, later identified as Stephen Allen Kasprzak, exited his garage armed with an assault rifle and pointed the weapon at responding officers.
A brief standoff ensued, after which deputies were able to take Kasprzak into custody without further incident. He is currently being held at the Polk County Jail and faces multiple charges, including:

Sheriff Byron Lyons praised the deputies’ professionalism and restraint, stating, “Our deputies responded swiftly to protect the victim and showed great discipline in resolving a dangerous situation without injury to the public, the suspect, or our officers.”
