On Sunday, August 31, 2025, around 8:30 p.m., Wake Village patrol officers initiated a traffic stop on a white SUV in the 900 block of Guam Street. The driver, identified as Christa Latham, was wanted for a felony probation violation. When officers requested that Latham exit the vehicle, she accelerated away, beginning a dangerous and destructive flight.
During the pursuit, Latham’s SUV collided into a dead-end area within the housing authority in the 1000 block of MacArthur. Undeterred, she reversed course and, in a deliberate act of aggression, struck a Wake Village Police Department vehicle head-on, causing it to catch fire. Latham continued her evasive and violent actions, colliding with a Nash Police Department unit shortly afterward, injuring the officer inside. The officer received medical treatment and has since been released from the hospital.
Latham’s vehicle was ultimately disabled, and she was taken into custody without further incident. Investigators confirmed that, during her attempt to flee, she totaled two police SUVs.
Christa Latham now faces multiple serious charges, including:
-
Probation Violation for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 4g<200g
-
Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer (two counts)
-
Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle
-
Resisting Arrest or Detention
Her bond has been set at $430,000.
The Wake Village Police Department acknowledged the assistance of the Nash Police Department, Bowie County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texarkana Police Department in safely resolving the incident.
