HOPKINS COUNTY, TX – A Canton man is facing multiple charges after he was arrested by Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies following a disturbance in Como, Texas. Raul Edgardo Garcia‑Vasquez, 21, was arrested on August 8 after he allegedly pointed a rifle at a residence and attempted to enter it while two adults and four juveniles were inside.
Deputies were dispatched to the 150 block of FM 2948 in response to a report of a stranger knocking on a door and trying to get inside. When they arrived, they located Garcia‑Vasquez hiding next to the home. A rifle and a revolver‑style pellet gun were found where he had been lying.
Through their investigation, deputies learned that Garcia‑Vasquez had been in a dating relationship with a woman inside the residence and had arrived uninvited. The victim told police that he pointed the rifle toward the residence while she was on the phone with 911.
Garcia‑Vasquez was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Hopkins County Jail. He has been charged with six counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. His bond has been set at $450,000.
