SULPHUR SPRINGS, TX – A traffic stop conducted by the Sulphur Springs Police Department on August 2 led to the arrest of 56-year-old Sean William Ashby on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
Officers stopped a vehicle at 600 Gilmer Street at approximately 8:30 a.m. After obtaining consent to search from Ashby and the driver, officers discovered several illegal substances and a handgun inside the car.
Ashby was found to be in possession of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, an unknown sleeping pill, and injectable steroids, including approximately 14.56 grams of testosterone cypionate and 14.72 grams of trenbolone acetate. Ashby did not provide prescriptions for the controlled substances.
Ashby was taken into custody without further incident. Ashby had previously been arrested in August 2024 for theft at a local Walmart.
