TROY, TX – The Troy Police Department has released new details regarding a deadly crash that occurred just before 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, on Interstate 35.
According to investigators, a Volvo tractor-trailer traveling northbound veered off the highway, crossed the grassy median, and re-entered the southbound lanes of I-35. The truck struck the center barrier and collided with four southbound vehicles.
The impact caused a fuel spill, leading to a fire that engulfed multiple vehicles. A nearby semi-truck not directly involved in the crash also caught fire due to the intense heat.
Two people were killed in the crash—one in the cab of the Volvo and another in a Lexus SUV. Autopsies have been ordered by authorities.
Troy Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
