SWEPCO to Upgrade Lake Welsh Public Boat Ramp in Pittsburg Starting July 21

Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) has announced a two-week project to repair and upgrade the public boat ramp near its Welsh Power Plant at Lake Welsh in Pittsburg, TX, beginning July 21, 2025, weather permitting.

The project will include improvements to the boat ramp, adjacent roads, and the parking area to enhance safety and accessibility for recreational users. During construction, the ramp and surrounding areas will be temporarily closed.

SWEPCO is partnering with Titus County Precinct #4 to complete the work efficiently and safely. The initiative is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and community support.

"SWEPCO is committed to the communities we serve, and we recognize the importance of maintaining Lake Welsh as a multi-use resource," said Michael Brice, Environmental & Lab Supervisor at Welsh Power Plant. "This investment not only enhances public access to the lake but also reinforces our dedication to ensuring that the environment coexists harmoniously alongside our power generation facilities."

SWEPCO has also launched a similar infrastructure project at its Turk Power Plant in Arkansas, aimed at stabilizing the underground water intake system at the Little River.
