Older adults in Greenville are invited to a free, four-day Senior Summer Safety Summit, affectionately known as "Camp Wise Owl," designed to enhance wellness, safety, independence, and social connection. Hosted by Greenville Fire-Rescue in collaboration with Greenville Parks and Recreation, Family First Home Health & Hospice, and Superior HealthPlan, the camp will run from July 28-31, from 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. daily, at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center.
The program is open to individuals ages 55 and up, with caregivers also welcome to attend. Camp Wise Owl aims to provide older adults with practical knowledge and resources for safety, health, and independence at home and in the community. The event will feature a blend of informative workshops, interactive games, fitness exercises, and social activities.
"This isn’t your typical safety class,” said Sylvia Peace, Community Risk Reduction Specialist for Greenville Fire-Rescue. “We’ve created a camp full of laughter, learning, and connection—where older adults can gain practical tools while having a great time. It's one of our favorite events of the year!”
