East Texas A&M University track and field had four scholar-athletes honored by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) with selections to the Academic All-District team.
On the men’s side, Jonas Gran of Riehen, Switzerland, earned the recognition. The women’s honorees include Romi Griese from Salzkotten, Germany, Veronika Kramarenko of Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, and Cassandra Rendon from San Antonio’s Madison High School.
All four will advance to the national ballot, with the CSC Academic All-America teams set to be announced on July 15.
Gran, a biological sciences major, was named to the Southland Conference (SLC) All-Academic team, SLC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, and President’s List. He also won the silver medal in the decathlon at this year’s outdoor conference championships.
Griese, also a biological sciences major, was named Southland Women’s Outdoor Student-Athlete of the Year. She captured the discus championship this season and earned SLC All-Academic, Commissioner’s Honor Roll, and President’s List honors.
Kramarenko, a health kinesiology and sport studies major, secured the outdoor high jump title this spring—her second SLC championship—and also placed on the podium in indoor high jump. She was named to the SLC All-Academic team, Commissioner’s Honor Roll, and President’s List.
Rendon, majoring in wildlife conservation science, finished third in the discus at the conference championships this year and has medaled in the event for two consecutive seasons. She holds the school record in discus and was named to the SLC Commissioner’s Honor Roll and President’s List.
