A burglary suspect is in custody after police responded to a break-in at a local business on the morning of Monday, June 30, and recovered a stolen vehicle and firearm.
According to the Kilgore Police Department, Officer Torres was dispatched to the scene and discovered several pieces of evidence, including a driver’s license left behind by the suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Jacoby Ference.
During the burglary, a firearm was stolen, and the suspect located keys to a Ford F-150 on the property. The truck was then stolen and used to crash through a chain-link gate as the suspect fled.
The business provided GPS information on the truck, leading officers to its location on Stone Road. A felony traffic stop was conducted, and Ference was taken into custody without incident. A female passenger was also arrested after officers found a methamphetamine pipe in her possession.
Officers recovered the stolen firearm from the vehicle, and both the truck and other stolen items were returned to a company representative.
Officer Torres also located nearby surveillance footage that clearly showed Ference committing the crimes. Investigator Burch and Officer Davis processed the burglary scene, and Detectives Sims and Lira secured a confession from Ference.
