The investigation identified Michael Dewayne Montgomery as the primary suspect in the distribution of illegal drugs from the apartment, with investigators documenting multiple suspected narcotics transactions at the location.

During the execution of the warrant, authorities recovered a substantial amount of illicit substances and paraphernalia, including:

  • Approximately 5 ounces of crack cocaine

  • Approximately 1 ounce of powdered cocaine

  • Approximately 2.5 ounces of pressed methamphetamine pills

  • Approximately 1 pound of synthetic marijuana

  • Approximately 1 ounce of marijuana

  • Digital scales and packaging materials

  • One firearm, found near the narcotics

Montgomery was booked on multiple charges, including:

  • Three counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 (more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams)

  • Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2a (more than 4 grams but less than 400 grams)

  • Abandon/Endanger Child (Criminal Negligence)

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon

  • An outstanding warrant for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 (less than 1 gram)

The presence of the firearm in connection with the large quantity of drugs may lead to enhanced charges under state and/or federal law. The Polk County Narcotics Division and DPS Criminal Investigation Division are continuing to analyze evidence, and additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.

Sheriff Byron Lyons and Chief Deputy Anthony Lowrie reiterated their commitment to aggressively pursuing individuals involved in the illegal drug trade, vowing to continue working with allied agencies to hold offenders accountable and protect the citizens of Polk County.
