On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, two separate incidents in Delta County led to the arrests of two men, thanks in large part to the efforts of K9 Zigi, a tracking and apprehension dog with the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, and the cooperation of multiple law enforcement agencies.
First Pursuit: Motorcycle Fleeing Suspect Captured
At approximately 2:25 p.m., Delta County deputies attempted to stop a white male operating a motorcycle in the area of Highway 24 and FM 128, headed north toward Lamar County. The driver refused to stop and fled at high speeds, reaching up to 97 mph.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) quickly joined the pursuit as the suspect crossed into Lamar County. The motorcycle eventually entered a field, and the rider abandoned the vehicle, fleeing on foot into a wooded area.
A perimeter was established with help from:
-
Lamar County Sheriff’s Office
-
Lamar County Constables
-
Texas Game Wardens
A drone was launched to assist in the search, and K9 Zigi was deployed to track the suspect. Within a short period, the dog located the individual hiding in thick brush.
The suspect was identified as Christopher Mosher, 25, of Sulphur Springs, who was on parole at the time of the incident.
While the pursuit was ongoing, a truck driver contacted the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office and reported that he had seen Mosher toss a handgun into a ditch in Delta County. The trucking company provided GPS tracking data and dash cam footage that helped officers narrow down the location. K9 Zigi was again deployed and successfully located the discarded firearm, a handgun, in a deep grassy area near the roadside.
As a result of the investigation, Mosher was charged with:
-
Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle – 3rd Degree Felony
-
Tampering with Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair – 3rd Degree Felony
-
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon – 2nd Degree Felony
He is currently being held at the Delta County Jail on $90,000 bond, along with a no-bond warrant issued for parole violation.
Second Incident: Lawn Mower Fugitive Apprehended
Later that evening, around 8:30 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a wanted subject riding a lawn mower in the area of 2nd Street in Pecan Gap.
Deputies canvassed two homes but did not initially locate the suspect. Information from area residents suggested the man had fled into a field behind one of the houses. Once again, K9 Zigi was deployed to track the individual through the area, but the suspect managed to evade the initial search by hiding inside a nearby barn.
A short time later, Constable Robinson located the man and took him into custody without incident.
The suspect was identified as Anthony Pease, 37, of Cooper, Texas. He was wanted on two misdemeanor probation violation warrants:
-
Criminal Trespass of a Habitation
-
Interference with Emergency Request for Assistance
Pease is currently being held in the Delta County Jail on a cash bond totaling $4,256.
