A Saturday night armed robbery in Texarkana ended swiftly with the arrest of 38-year-old Larodderick Clay, who allegedly fled a convenience store with cash, alcohol, cigarettes, and snacks—including gummy bears and Flamin’ Hot Fries—before being cornered by officers and a formidable fence.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on June 14, Clay reportedly entered the Fuel N Go on N. Robison Rd, asked for cigarettes, then pulled a gun on the clerk and demanded cash. After grabbing money and various items, he fled on foot.
A witness arriving at the scene just as Clay ran out promptly called 911. Minutes later, Lt. Jeremy Courtney spotted Clay walking behind Planet Fitness. Clay attempted to escape, running directly towards Sgt. Marc Neal and a tall fence, which ultimately thwarted his escape attempt.
Texarkana Police officers quickly apprehended Clay. All the stolen merchandise was recovered, along with the firearm, which was later determined to have been stolen out of Atlanta, Texas.
Clay was booked into the Bi-State Jail and charged with Robbery, Theft of a Firearm, and Evading Arrest. His bond has been set at $110,000.
