A 23-year-old man is in custody following two armed home invasions and shootings that occurred on the evening of June 14, 2025, in Morris County.
Around 6:50 p.m., Morris County Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting shootings at two separate locations on County Road 2115 and County Road 2102. The victims described the suspect as a slender Black male wearing black clothing and armed with a firearm.
According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Makhei N. Aguilar of Hughes Springs, first approached a home on County Road 2115 and demanded a vehicle. When the homeowner refused, Aguilar fired several shots into the residence. He then proceeded to a second home on County Road 2102, where he again demanded vehicle keys. Shots were exchanged between Aguilar and the homeowner during this encounter. A female victim at the second residence was struck in the leg but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Law enforcement agencies, including Morris County Deputies, Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Game Wardens, and Hughes Springs Police Department, worked through the night gathering evidence and tracking the suspect.
At approximately 11:45 a.m. on June 15, officers with the Richardson Police Department located and arrested Aguilar without incident. He remains in the custody of Richardson PD on local charges and will be transferred to Morris County to face charges related to the shootings and home invasions.
The investigation remains active.
