One person has died following a boating incident on Lake Belton Sunday afternoon, June 8, 2025. Authorities responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:36 p.m. reporting a boater in distress near Roger’s Park.
According to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, a male and female had become separated from their boat while in the water. Nearby citizens assisted in rescuing the male, while emergency crews retrieved the female.
Responding agencies included the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, Morgan’s Point Resort Fire and Police Departments, Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park Rangers. Life-saving efforts were performed on the male victim at the scene and continued en route to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple. Despite those efforts, he was later pronounced deceased.
Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey has ordered an autopsy. The female was also transported to the hospital for evaluation.
The identities of the individuals involved have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The incident remains under investigation by the Bell County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Game Wardens.
