Texarkana Police have made a second arrest in connection with the May 10 murder of Jaylen Betts.
Nineteen-year-old Phajae Moore was taken into custody in Houston over the weekend on a bond forfeiture warrant. He was transported back to Bowie County on Wednesday, where Detective Casey Schmidt served him with outstanding warrants for Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Also on Wednesday, 24-year-old Benjamin Brem — previously arrested in Houston — was transported to Bowie County and booked into the Bi-State Jail. He faces charges of Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, as well as an additional Robbery charge stemming from an ATM robbery in Wake Village that occurred days before his arrest.
Brem’s bond is set at $1,680,000. Moore’s bond has not yet been determined.
The Texarkana Police Department credited the ongoing efforts of Detective Schmidt and other personnel who have worked extensively to advance the investigation.
