A fire broke out Saturday afternoon at a Tesla battery storage facility under construction near the ONCOR power substation in Royse City.
The Royse City Fire Department was dispatched around 12:00 p.m. after receiving reports of a possible fire at the ONCOR site. Upon arrival, crews discovered the fire was actually located at the adjacent Tesla construction site, which houses battery backup storage connected to the power grid.
Officials confirmed that no one was on site at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the Tesla facility, and the fire is now under control.
Representatives from both ONCOR and Tesla are on scene, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
