A traffic stop conducted by Henderson County authorities on Wednesday night resulted in the arrest of a Malakoff man for methamphetamine possession.
According to the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, K-9 Deputy Edwin Rodriguez, along with Investigator Jude Bonner and Narcotics Investigators Jonathan Barrios and Jonathan Daille, initiated a traffic stop on a silver Cadillac in the Malakoff City Limits on Washington Avenue at approximately 10:28 PM. The vehicle was being driven by Kevin Ray Jackson.
During the traffic stop investigation, K-9 Deputy Rodriguez deployed his partner, K-9 Valco, to perform an open-air sniff of the vehicle. Valco alerted positively for the presence of narcotics. Subsequently, investigators conducted a search of the vehicle and Jackson's person.
During the search, investigators located a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine on Jackson's person, along with a small zipper case containing a used glass pipe with methamphetamine residue inside.
Kevin Ray Jackson was arrested and transported to the Henderson County Jail. He was booked in on a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance and is currently awaiting arraignment.
