The Jasper County Sheriff's Office (JSO) successfully located a missing elderly woman who was found safe in Lafayette, Louisiana, thanks to the collaborative efforts of JSO personnel and Louisiana authorities.
On May 2nd, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., JSO Sergeant Cody Christopher was alerted to a report of a missing elderly female from the Jim Goode Lake area in north Jasper County. Sergeant Christopher responded to the area and spoke with the woman's family and friends.
Jasper County dispatchers continued to assist in the search, and at approximately 4:00 p.m., they were able to "ping" the missing woman's cell phone. The ping indicated cellular activity near Lafayette, Louisiana. Jasper County Communication Operators immediately contacted the local law enforcement agency in that area. Due to the woman's age and a reported medical condition, she had also been entered into the national missing persons database.
At approximately midnight, the missing woman was able to contact a family member and a Jasper County Sheriff's Office Deputy, informing them that she was lost. 911 was contacted in Louisiana, and Lafayette Police Department officers were subsequently able to locate her.
The Jasper County Sheriff's Office credits the diligence of Sergeant Christopher, Deputy Hollyfield, and their dispatchers for the safe return of the woman to Jasper County this morning.
