Jasper County District Attorney Anne Pickle and Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard announced Monday afternoon, April 28th, that 18-year-old Cody Dwayne Vann of Jasper has been sentenced to 53 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division for the murder of 18-year-old Arthur Logan Orosco of Buna. Vann pleaded guilty to the murder charge before State District Judge Craig Mixson earlier in the day.
The investigation revealed that on July 10, 2024, Vann fatally shot Arthur Logan Orosco and discarded his body on U.S. Highway 96 in Buna, in front of Tractor Supply. The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and the Jasper County District Attorney’s Office conducted the investigation and apprehended Vann within hours of the murder.
Sheriff Havard and District Attorney Pickle commended the investigators for their diligent work on the case and extended their heartfelt condolences to the families of the victim.
