Henderson County Man Sentenced to 30 Years After Methamphetamine Bust in Mabank

Michael Mark Grubbs

Michael Mark Grubbs, 42, was sentenced to 30 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice by 3rd District Court Judge Mark Calhoon on January 20, 2025. Henderson County Assistant District Attorney Jeff Herrington represented the State during the trial.

The case stems from an August 6, 2024, traffic stop in the 700 block of Gun Barrel Lane in Mabank. While patrolling, Deputy Melissa Harmon observed a traffic violation committed by Grubbs. During the stop, Grubbs exhibited suspicious behavior and revealed that he was on parole for methamphetamine-related offenses and had previously been incarcerated three times.

Deputies Miguel Chavez and Edwin Rodriguez, along with K-9 Valco, responded to assist. The K-9 alerted to the vehicle, and a probable cause search resulted in the discovery of 71.87 grams of methamphetamine hidden in a large clear baggie.

Grubbs, a convicted felon with prior charges for possession of controlled substances, unlawful possession of a firearm, and theft, was arrested and later sentenced for his involvement in the illegal drug trade.
