Quick Action by Linden Police Officers Saves Driver's Life After Medical Episode

On the evening of January 17, 2025, officers with the Linden Police Department in East Texas responded to a call about a reckless driver. The situation, which began as a traffic stop at the EZ Mart, quickly escalated into a life-threatening medical emergency, highlighting the importance of adaptability and teamwork.

When the driver was removed from the vehicle, it was apparent he was intoxicated. Shortly after being escorted to the back of the patrol car, the individual began experiencing a medical episode.

Sgt. Denison immediately began evaluating the driver and performing chest compressions. Deputy Martinez positioned himself to assist with compressions as needed, while Officer Graham retrieved his medical bag and AED. Another officer coordinated with dispatch, requesting updates and emergency medical assistance from LifeNet.

LifeNet arrived on the scene and took over the situation. The swift actions and teamwork of the officers are credited with saving the driver’s life.

The Linden Police Department emphasized the importance of remaining calm, flexible, and prepared to transition from enforcement to life-saving measures, ensuring the best possible outcome in critical situations.
