Pregnant Woman's Reported Shooting in Rowlett Determined to Be False

On January 15, 2025, at approximately 5:40 PM, Rowlett Police Officers responded to a reported shooting at an apartment complex near the 9600 block of Merritt Road. A pregnant female victim called 911, reporting she had been shot inside her apartment by an unknown suspect who fled the scene.

According to the victim, she heard a knock at the door and was approached by two individuals claiming to be maintenance personnel. She stated that she allowed the individuals inside, at which point they proceeded to her master bedroom. While she was attempting to secure her dog on the balcony, the suspects allegedly emerged from the bedroom, shot her in the shoulder, and fled. The victim described the suspects as males of unknown race, approximately 35–45 years old, wearing gray polo shirts and khaki pants.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and remains in stable condition, as does her unborn child.

Following a thorough investigation, Rowlett detectives determined that the incident did not occur as initially reported by the victim. Based on the findings, it has been concluded that no offense took place as described. This was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Detectives are not seeking any suspects in connection with this case.
