On Sunday evening, December 22, 2024, Titus County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested fugitive Brandon Edward Lebeau and 33-year-old Elda Mendez-Lara at a residence on the 500 block of South 6th Street in Talco, Texas.
Deputies, acting on credible information, located Lebeau inside the residence. Lebeau was wanted on two felony warrants: Burglary of a Habitation and Theft of Material (Copper). Prior to this incident, deputies had warned Mendez-Lara not to harbor Lebeau.
While deputies initiated the process of obtaining a search warrant, Mendez-Lara resisted detention and was arrested. Lebeau later exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
Mendez-Lara faces charges for Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport, a Class A misdemeanor, and Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution, a third-degree felony, for knowingly harboring a fugitive despite prior warnings.
As of December 23, both individuals remain in custody at the Titus County Jail, awaiting arraignment.
