Commerce ISD Celebrates Student Achievements and Reviews Key Updates at Board Meeting

At its November 18, 2024, meeting, the Commerce Independent School District (CISD) Board of Trustees celebrated student athletic achievements and addressed several business matters.

Cross Country Team Highlights

  • State Qualifier: Chase Gossett
  • Varsity Boys: District Champions
  • Varsity Girls: Regional Qualifiers
  • JV Boys: District Champions
  • Middle School: District Champions
  • 76 Personal Bests were set during the season.

Volleyball Team Highlights

  • The Varsity team completed the season with a 15-20 record, placing 3rd in District.
  • Despite losing seven seniors last year, the team looks forward to a bright future.

Delinquent Tax Report

Mr. Patrick McArthur from Perdue Brandon Fielder & Mott presented the district’s delinquent tax report. The firm, which works on a fee-based structure contingent on collections, successfully recovered $184,000 in delinquent taxes during the 2022-23 school year.

Financial Integrity Rating

CISD received a B rating in the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the 2022-23 school year. Indicator 21, related to bond construction debt and stagnant property values, impacted the rating.

Enrollment and Upcoming Meetings

  • Current enrollment stands at 1,550 students.
  • Special Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 7:00 PM.
  • The next regular Board Meeting will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 7:00 PM.
