On Friday, October 25, at 9:43 PM, Paris police responded to a disturbance in the 700 block of Pine Bluff Street. After several minutes of negotiation, 47-year-old Steven Wayne Eubanks complied with officers' orders and came downstairs, where he was arrested without incident.
Eubanks was accused of choking his common-law wife and knocking the phone from her hand while she attempted to call 9-1-1. The victim reported that Eubanks had exhibited paranoid behavior, allegedly due to narcotic use. He had accused her of infidelity, claiming she was hiding her alleged partners on the couch. Witnesses stated he stabbed the sofa with a knife and struck it with a baseball bat.
Eubanks was charged with Felony Assault of a Family/House Member, Impeding Breath/Circulation, Interfering with an Emergency Request for Assistance, and a Motion to Revoke Probation warrant related to a DWI with a blood alcohol content over 0.15.
