On September 11, 2024, Greenville Police responded to a disturbance call. Upon arrival, officers identified Jeffrey Lee Lakey of Greenville as the suspect in an assault. Lakey was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Obstruction, and Interfering with an Emergency Call. His bond has been set at $40,000.
Lakey had previously been arrested in February 2024 for drug possession, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). That case is still pending.
