Man Arrested in Commerce After Attempted Escape During Traffic Stop

Early on Saturday, May 4, 2024, Ethan Dale Busby of Commerce (formerly of Kemp), aged 34, was arrested by Commerce Police Officers and booked into the Hunt County Detention Center.

A Commerce Police Officer identified Busby, wanted in Hunt County for a Parole Violation, walking away from a residence in the 2300 block of Monroe Street.   The officer stopped Busby and during the attempt to verify his identification, Busby turned and took off running down Monroe St towards Taylor St.  The Officer was able to catchup to Busby and take him down around the 2200 block of Taylor Street.  

During the pursuit on foot, the Officer witnessed Busby discarding items, leading to the discovery of suspected Meth and Marijuana.  Busby was taken into custody.  

Busby faces charges of Parole Violation, Evading Arrest Detention, Fail to Identify Fugitive from Justice, Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 over 1 gram in a drug-free zone, and Possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces in a drug-free zone.  His bond total was set at $48,000.
