The Texarkana Police Department arrested 20-year-old Angel Hernandez of Texarkana for Possession of Child Pornography on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Both Facebook and Instagram discovered videos of suspected child pornography had been uploaded to their platforms and immediately reported the illegal posts/messages to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Thos tips were forwarded to the Texarkana PD after the IP address of the computer showed it originated from the Texarkana area.
Texarkana Detective Casey Schmidt was assigned the case and immediately went to work trying to identify the person responsible for the videos. After several weeks of tracking down leads and following up on the electronic evidence, his investigation led him to Hernandez and eventually confirmed him as the suspect. Based upon the probable cause he was able to show, Judge Nancy Talley issued a warrant for Hernandez, and Schmidt arrested him a few days later after recognizing his vehicle pulling into a local business parking lot.
Hernandez is currently being held in the Bi-State Jail, where his bond was set at $100,000.
