In anticipation of bitterly cold weather and potential extended icing events during the winter, the City of Paris Emergency Management Division is partnering with the United Way of Lamar County, the Salvation Army, and CitySquare Paris to establish warming stations for the community.
The City of Paris plans to initiate the opening of a warming station at The Salvation Army facility, located at 350 West Kaufman Street, when weather conditions necessitate. Those seeking overnight shelter at The Salvation Army will be directed to CitySquare Paris at 2515 Bonham Street for daytime refuge and activities whenever possible.
Assistant Chief of Police Randy Tuttle, also serving as Emergency Management Coordinator for the City, stated, "When the City expects extended periods of freezing precipitation or lengthy electrical power outages, we will initiate the plan for opening warming stations."
To keep the public informed, the City of Paris will notify residents of open warming stations through local media outlets, the official website (www.paristexas.gov), and various social media platforms. This collaborative effort aims to provide a safe haven for community members during severe winter conditions.
