A pedestrian lost her life in a devastating accident on Highway 80, just three miles east of Grand Saline. The incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 12:45 p.m., as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
According to the DPS report, Autumn Sierra McLane, a 23-year-old resident of Grand Saline, was walking in a lane of Highway 80 when the unfortunate incident unfolded. A Toyota Tundra, traveling in the eastbound direction, struck McLane as the driver attempted to swerve away to avoid the collision. The report indicates that the road was wet at the time.
Autumn Sierra McLane was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Tundra, identified as Shane Douglas Pickering, a 37-year-old resident of Quitman, emerged from the incident without injuries.
