In a joint operation on September 30, 2023, several Hunt County departments, including the Tawakoni Fire Department, Tawakoni Police Department, Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Game Warden, responded to a distress call at the boat ramp in the Rustic Oaks Mobile Home Park, located just off Highway 276 in West Tawakoni. The response was triggered by the discovery of a deceased body in the lake.
Upon arrival, the Tawakoni Fire Department took charge of the situation, assisting in the recovery of the body from the water. The victim, identified as a middle-aged male, was retrieved from the lake. Subsequently, the Hunt County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) team arrived at the scene to conduct an in-depth investigation into the incident.
The Dallas Medical Examiner's Office has assumed the responsibility of identifying the victim and determining the cause of death.
