TWC Provide Job and Education Grants to Kaufman and Rains County School Districts

Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Commissioner Representing Labor Alberto Treviño III is set to present multiple ceremonial checks at Trinity Valley Community College at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

TWC will be awarding five Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grants to support career training at five educational institutions in North Central and East Texas. These grants include:

  • Cayuga Independent School District (ISD) will receive a $324,591 grant to train 130 students as welders in partnership with Trinity Valley Community College.

  • Forney ISD will be granted $136,036 to train 150 students as registered nurses in partnership with Dallas College.

  • Kaufman ISD will receive a $98,457 grant for equipment to train 135 students as mechanical engineers in partnership with Trinity Valley Community College.

  • Kemp ISD is set to receive a $208,145 grant to train 130 students as welders in partnership with Trinity Valley Community College.

  • Rains ISD will be granted $611,027 to train 103 students as welders in partnership with Trinity Valley Community College.

The JET grants, funded by the Legislature each biennium, are used by TWC to offset start-up costs for developing career and technical education programs in public community, state, and technical colleges, school districts, and charter schools. The equipment funded through these grants must be used to train students for high-demand occupations in Texas.
