On the afternoon of October 29, 2023, at approximately 4:04 p.m., the Nacogdoches Police Department responded to a welfare check in the 100 block of S. Stone St. Officers arrived at the scene and tragically discovered two adult female victims deceased at the residence. Both victims appeared to have suffered from gunshot wounds.
At this time, authorities believe that this incident is isolated in nature. The Nacogdoches Police Department's criminal investigation division is currently on the scene, working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding this double homicide.
In the interest of safety, residents are asked to avoid the immediate area as the investigation unfolds. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and as further information becomes available, the authorities will provide updates to the public.
UPDATE: The Nacogdoches Police Department has identified the homicide victims from the Stone St. homicide that occurred on October 28th, 2023. The victims are Laura Sanford, 73 years of age, and Laquice Sanford, 48 years of age, both from Nacogdoches, TX.
