On October 19, 2023, Wood County Corporal Burdick encountered an incident involving a male individual riding a bicycle in the middle of the road without proper lighting. The male, who initially refused to provide identification, attempted to evade the situation by riding away. In the process of trying to detain the individual, Corporal Burdick was struck by a set of keys thrown by the male.
The male, identified as Hanif Khan, was subsequently arrested on charges of resisting arrest and assault on a public servant.
