Police Arrest Two on Drug Charges After Traffic Stop in Palestine

On October 11, 2023, at approximately 8:50 a.m., Palestine Police Officer N. Martinez conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of West Palestine Avenue.

Officers contacted the driver and identified him as William Charles Waller (35) and the passenger as Debra Leann Alton (33). During a search of the vehicle, Officers located a large amount of currency, and a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine. A small amount of marijuana was located during the search, along with numerous small plastic bags, a digital scale, and a glass pipe.

Officers later weighed the suspected methamphetamine at the Palestine Police Department. The suspected methamphetamine weighed 23.81 grams. The total amount of currency in possession of Waller was $3,027.00.

Both subjects were transported to the Anderson County Jail and booked in for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1>=4G<200G, a 1st Degree Felony, and Possession of Marijuana <2 Oz, a B Misdemeanor. The vehicle was also seized due to being used to transport illegal controlled substances.
