On October 25, 2023, at approximately 10:30 am, Sherman PD dispatch received a 911 hangup call at 4508 Hawk Lane. The Grayson County Appraisal District has the owner of the home as Crystal Marie Jones since March, 2022.
Officers arrived at 10:39 am and found 47-year-old Anthony Earl Jones Sr. in front of the residence. Due to the circumstances, Anthony was detained while officers checked welfare on the occupants of the residence.
Inside, the wife, Crystal Jones, was found deceased with a gunshot wound. Sherman PD Detectives responded to the scene and began investigating with the assistance of the Texas Rangers and Grayson County District Attorney's Office.
The evidence and information uncovered during the investigation indicated Anthony was responsible for Crystal's death.
An arrest warrant for Anthony was obtained for the offense of Murder and Aggravated Assault Family Violence with Serious Bodily Injury.
Anthony was placed under arrest and transported to the Grayson County Jail. A search through Grayson County records, shows that Anthony Jones Sr has a history of arrests dealing with family violence. On February 11, 2023, Jones Sr was arrested for assault that causes bodily injury-family violence. He was taken into custody again on July 9, 2023, for theft and drug possession of drugs, and he was subsequently released from jail on September 1, 2023.
