Paris police officers conducted a routine traffic stop on Thursday afternoon, September 19, 2023, at 3:59 PM in the 3700 block of Lamar Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Shane Lee McCann, was already familiar to the officers. However, McCann initially provided a false name, claiming to be another individual.
Upon further investigation, the officers conducted a warrant check, which revealed that McCann had an outstanding warrant for probation violation. As a result, they arrested McCann for Failure to Identify as a Fugitive and for the initial Motion to Revoke his probation warrant.
During a subsequent search of McCann's vehicle, officers discovered illegal substances and stolen property. The vehicle inventory revealed methamphetamine, as well as checks and credit cards belonging to other individuals.
In addition to the probation violation charges, the Paris Police charged McCann with Possession of Controlled Substances and Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information.
